A little gear porn (Dec 10/15)

Nikkor80-200F2.8-03Gear, gear, sweet, obsessive, seducing, addicting gear …

Nikkor80-200F2.8-02I bought this beauty to replace my trusty Sigma EX 70-200 F:2.8 HSM Macro II

Nikkor80-200F2.8-01And though it’s a very nice lens, it’s 1999, tech has evolved quite a bit since then. Or maybe I didn’t get the best copy… Anyway, another Sigma is on the way. Aahhh, ladies….

Hi Claire, congrats to your D750 and the new 70-200 Nikon lens! I had the push-pull version and the sharpness was fantastic; however the problem was that I had to do some AF finetuning to hit the AF right, and the necessary finetuning was different from using it at 70mm and 200mm. This was a big problem. Not sure if this version has it too, but you might want to check before you sell the Sigma. Anyway, a fantastic lens!

Hi Dirk ! You didn’t read my post entirely, as stated I sold this lens, that was good but not up to more modern Sigmas’ standards, and bought another Sig EX 70-200 HSM Macro II, which is a really bread and butter lens for my budding equine photo business. Very nice to hear from you, and I wish you a great holiday season.

Ah sorry, now I get it 🙂 Yeah the Sigma is great and I still have mine for SONY a-mount that I bought thanks to your recommendation. The Sony path is a little blurry right now since I am waiting what will happen with APS-C e-mount, or should I go full frame? Anyway, considering your great results with the D750 there are other very pretty gear alternatives available. Have a great Christmas, Claire!
