Laurent that beautiful buzzard still lives in our place !! And I still haven’t been able to properly shoot the damn bird, lol. It’s lovely, I hope I do get to grab a better picture at some point…

Despite their size, birds of prey are pretty hard to photograph. It sometimes is easier of the bird just caught a prey (they are reluctant to fly away with the additional weight), or is actually eating it. In winter they are also a bit easier to approach, because they try to conserve energy. Try to approach them using an indirect route (not going straight at him). Go super slowly, and don’t look at him all the time.

I work with animals so you can be sure I tried all that, but this little guy is downright paranoid, lol. The funny thing is that he tolerates my dogs not to far from him (as long as they ignore him), and I can spot him decently from the car. But should I only crack a window open to try shooting him from the house, and away he flies. lol.
